Bob Brown 1962-1966

Bob Brown played a major role in the success of the Greyhound basketball team during the mid-60’s.  The 1963-66 seasons were prior to the 3-point field goal and before conferences and districts were established.  In the 60’s, schools were designated as small, medium and large; SSHS was a “medium” school which meant stiffer competition following the regular season.  During Bob’s junior year, the team was in the semi-finals of the regional playoffs and, in his senior season, the Hounds played again in the regionals.  Bob’s name remains prominent on the SSHS Basketball Stats leaderboard.  He continues to rank from #16 up to #1 in no less than 11 categories including single game rebounds and field goals as well as career field goals and scoring average.  Participating on the track team as a high jumper was part of Bob’s athletic accomplishments placing 2nd in the Missouri Valley Relays, receiving a 1st-place medal at the District meet and finishing 5th at the 1966 state meet in Columbia.  Bob also received Kansas City District Honorable Mention status for Class M Basketball during his junior and senior high school years.
