Roger Davenport, 1983-1987

Roger Davenport is a 1987 graduate who was a 4-year letterman in football and basketball.  Roger’s football honors include twice being named 1st team All-Conference, 1st team All-District and 1st team All-State.  During his senior season, Roger led the Hounds in tackles, was named the team’s Offensive Lineman of the Year as well as MVP, chosen as a member of the KMZU Dream Team and selected as an Army Reserve Scholar Athlete.  For 2 years during Roger’s tenure, the Hounds were ranked in the top 10 in all state polls.  Roger was a mainstay as a 3-year starter on both the offensive and defensive lines and was a member of the ’85 team that lost to Rock Port by only 1 point in the 1-A state football title game.  To date, the 1985 SSHS Hall of Fame football team has been the only Hounds team to participate in a state football championship game.  Roger majored in Finance at Missouri State University graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1992.
